For years, ART 180 has carved out a reputation for giving young people in RVA the chance to express themselves through art. By partnering with other nonprofit organizations, ART 180 has helped youth (ages 8 to 18) discover ways they can positively engage in and influence their surroundings.
To help make the organization’s mission possible, ART 180 hosts its annual fundraiser, known as Art Karma, that boasts an eclectic silent auction, music, and more.
This year’s Art Karma offered global beats by DJ Graybeard of WRIR’s “The Other Black Music” show, Balinese music by the Gamelan Raga Kusuma ensemble, psychic readings, local beer by Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery, a signature Art Karma cocktail designed by Heritage restaurant featuring RVA’s new Belle Isle Craft Spirits, and coffee from Lamplighter. There were also children’s activities with VMFA.
With galas, balls, and cause-related events as our focus, Grid photographers use the Smile section of the magazine to capture local people attending and participating in events designed to support, improve, and celebrate RVA.
