The Connection Between Monuments and Tourism

The Valentine will launch Controversy/History, an event series that will delve into the connection between monuments and tourism, on Tuesday, December 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. The series will explore the connection between monuments and tourism. Event organizers say the event will include the history of monuments in Richmond, a presentation on the historical debates Richmonders have had about monuments, on-the-ground data concerning the role monuments play in tourism, regional data from The Capital Region Collaborative, and in-depth conversation about action steps. Controversy/History will be hosted by Bill Martin, Director of the Valentine, and Kelli Lemon, host of Coffee With Strangers. The event is free and open to the public.
