These performances are free and open to the public — a gift to the Richmond community. Come feel the rhythm and celebrate the transformative power of movement.

Rooted in Founding Artistic Director Stoner Winslett’s vision to make high-quality dance education accessible to all, Minds In Motion offers a powerful pathway for students to discover self-expression and confidence through movement. Beginning in 4th grade, the program creates a bridge between professional dance and elementary education, blending classroom curriculum, arts instruction, and joyful performance.

Each year, Minds In Motion reaches around 1,000 students through year-long residencies, summer camps, and school partnerships in Richmond, Chesterfield, Portsmouth, and beyond. Professional teaching artists and musicians bring energy and care to each student, embodying Richmond Ballet’s belief that dance has the power to uplift lives and strengthen community bonds.

From jumps and stomps to twirls and twists, these students come together from all walks of life to share a truly one-of-a-kind experience — and it’s the only program of its kind in the Commonwealth.
