Making the Perfect Kitchen Knife in RVA

A hand-forged pizza cutter made from rare Damascus steel, one of the latest creations by Join or Die Knives.

Billy Fallen is a master of his craft. And he knows the tools of his trade better than anyone. As the famed creator of Billy Bread, Fallen now offers Richmond something new at Billy Pie, a wood-fired pizza restaurant that he launched earlier this year at the corner of Paterson Avenue and Three Chopt Road. When local knife maker, Brent Stubblefield, owner of Join or Die Knives, set out to create the perfect pizza cutter he turned to Fallen for feedback.

Quickly going to work with Stubblefield’s hand-forged knife, Fallen put the pizza cutter to the test and our photographer Nick Davis was there to capture it all. The knife, made from rare Damascus steel, is one of the latest creations by Join or Die Knives as the growing knife shop expands its product lineup to include an impressive selection of kitchen knives.
