When great minds get together in Richmond, they make BEER. Final Gravity Brewing Co, a neighborhood brewery on Lakeside Ave with 18 taps offering award-winning beer, has partnered with Väsen Brewing, a Scott’s Addition based brewery recently named as one of the top new breweries in country by BeerAdvocate magazine. Together, Final Gravity and Väsen have created the Hyperborean Galaxy, their first beer collaboration that promises an out of this world beer experience.

This big New England-style pale ale showcases Galaxy, Mosaic, and Citra hops together with Väsen’s house favorite Norwegian kveik yeast. Hints of tangerine and grapefruit combine with subtle raspberry and pine to create a complex, hoppy brew with low bitterness and an extremely smooth mouthfeel.

The first taste of the collaboration beer will be available today in Väsen’s taproom, which is often called the Hyperborea. For those rusty on their Greek mythology, Hyperborea was described as a place beyond the north winds where the sun was always shining and outdoor activities could be enjoyed every hour of the day. The Hyperborean Galaxy beer collab gives a subtle nod to themes prevalent among both Väsen and Final Gravity’s story. As two extremely collaborative businesses, the new beer represents Richmond’s tight-knit and supportive brewing community.
