Hop in the Saddle: 10 ways to enjoy RVA by Scooter

1. RIDING A SCOOTER IS INHERENTLY FUN. It’s all the fun of riding a bicycle, but you get to your destination quicker going 35 mph AND without being covered in sweat. It’s all the fun of riding a motorcycle while being much lighter and far less intimidating. Whilst riding a motorcycle and scooter have many differences, they do share one thing in common. And that could be adhering to the motorcycle laws that you can find for places like Ohio, (read here for more information), so you can not only protect your own safety but that of other people too. It’s worth it to just get that feeling of the wind blowing in your hair. Actually, I think that riding a scooter shares thrill levels with kayaking-it doesn’t take a lot for things to get REALLY exciting-but obviously you can’t kayak to work!

2. YOU’LL NEVER SPEND MORE THAN A FEW BUCKS AT THE GAS STATION. means that you only need to get gas once every week or two. It feels so good to completely fill your fuel tank for $6 that you’ll really feel gross about filling your car for 10 times the coin.

3. YOU CAN PARK A SCOOTER JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE. In most Rich- mond neighborhoods, your 50cc scooter can park on the sidewalk, or you can sneak into a parking spot where a car could never fit. Bonus: Scooter parking at the Folk Festival is the best spot in town.

4. WHEN YOU ARE ON YOUR SCOOTER, YOU ARE NOT ON YOUR PHONE. A great way to unplug, it makes you realize that the five text messages you get while out on a ride aren’t really very important. Obviously, you can’t stop other road users from using their phone at the wheel, so you should still be wary and alert to avoid a crash. Hopefully, you’ll never crash or need to make a motorcycle accident claim in St Louis, or anywhere else for that matter, so as long as you’re not on your phone yourself you should be able to have a safe and enjoyable ride.

5. YOU’LL MEET NEW PEOPLE RIDING A SCOOTER. Every time you pull up to a coffee shop, every time you park right in front of that trendy restaurant, and every time you tuck groceries under the seat, someone will be there asking questions about your bike. You can also join a scooter club!

6. YOU CAN TRANSPORT ONE EASILY. If you are someone who happens to move from city to city, you don’t have to worry about moving your bike. There are services that does motorcycle transport interstate and it help you transport your bike from door to door safely and securely.

7. IF YOU ARE AN INTROVERT-and your personal batteries are best recharged by spending some quality time with yourself there is nothing better than traveling by scooter. You are taking care of yourself every time you get in the saddle.

8. RIDING A SCOOTER (OR MOTORCYCLE) MAKES YOU SMARTER. It’s been scientifically proven that the extra concentration needed to suc- cessfully operate a
motorcycle can contribute to higher general levels of brain function. It’s true; Google it! Then go see the motorcycle options at www.cleanharleys.com and find a cycle to boost your brainpower!

9. YOU’LL EXPERIENCE YOUR CITY IN WAYS YOU NEVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE. Smell the flowers, experience the seasons, make riverside detours just because. And I can tell you that there is NOTHING like a quick rainstorm on a hot day to make you appreciate urban nature. It’s awesome.

10. ONCE YOU ARE FULLY CONFIDENT RIDING-to the point that you keep your eyes on the road (and not on your dashboard)-riding a scooter almost feels like flying. That could actually be the only item on this list. It’s the closest you’ll ever get without ever leaving the ground.
