Lyft Challenges Residents to Ditch Their Car

Lyft has announced Ditch Your Car, a program in Richmond offering over $300 worth of transportation credit to give up their cars for 30 days from Oct. 8 to Nov. 6 in favor of getting around RVA via Lyft rides and by offering transit credits in the form of a monthly GRTC credit.

Richmond residents can register at ditchwithlyft.com/Richmond for the opportunity to be selected for the program and receive credit towards Lyft and the GRTC.

“The way that people move around cities is changing faster than ever, and we are excited to challenge Richmond residents to change their everyday habits and give up their car for a month,” said Cabell Rosanelli, Market Manager for Lyft Richmond. “Lyft alone is not the overall solution to overcome transportation hurdles, but by utilizing other transportation options we are able to create a full menu of mobility options for Richmond residents.”

Here’s how it works:

  1. Sign up here. 50 people will be randomly selected to participate.

  2. Once chosen for the challenge, you’ll receive an email with the details of the program including transportation credits.

  3. Transportation credits include Lyft and GRTC monthly bus credit to get around the city for one month.

    1. $300 of Lyft ride credit

    2. GRTC Monthly Unlimited Pass ($60 value, valid on local routes, including GRTC Pulse)

  4. The Challenge starts Oct. 8 and ends Nov. 6

Lyft was founded in June 2012 by Logan Green and John Zimmer. Lyft is the fastest growing rideshare company in the U.S. and is available to 95 percent of the US population as well as in Ontario, Canada. For more info about the Ditch Your Car program in Richmond, visit ditchwithlyft.com/Richmond.
