Lyft Offering Discounted Rides to the Polls

In the 2016 election, it’s estimated that over 15 million people who were registered to vote didn’t show up on Election Day due to lack of transportation. This year, the ride-share app Lyft has partnered with Vote.org, Nonprofit Vote, TurboVote, Vote Latino, and others to provide voters with free or discounted rides to the polls on November 6th. Lyft will offer 50% off rides across the country, and free rides to underserved communities that face significant obstacles to transportation.

Lyft’s discount codes are not intended to encourage the act of voting for or against any particular person or measure. The promo codes are valid for 50% off any standard ride to a polling location on Election Day up to $5.

In addition to free and discounted rides, Lyft has partnered with When We All Vote and National Voter Registration Day to ensure Lyft’s passengers, drivers, and the broader community are prepared for Election Day. Leading up to Election Day, Lyft provided its drivers with voter registration handouts and key voter information, offered in-office voter registration for their employees, and offered online voter information through their partner organizations. Lyft is also encouraging the community to make a plan in advance for Election Day, which has a proven impact on voter turnout rates.

To thank its drivers for helping voters get to the polls on election day, Lyft will be surprising select drivers across the country who give rides on November 6th with a special gift.

To claim the 50% off promo code, Download the Lyft app and unlock your code to get the ride discount. The promo code will also be visible in your app on Election Day.
